POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Quality Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Operations     

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt/Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Manufacturing Operations  

 

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer supports manufacturing the Security Imaging System Business for IDSS Holdings, Inc. This position will be responsible for quality in the manufacturing of Computed Tomography (CT) equipment. Demonstrates initiative and dedication through positive use of downtime and an overall willingness and eagerness to exceed IDSS and company requirements consistently. 

ESSENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering, supply chain, production, etc. to ensure production rate objectives are met through manufacturing and test with sufficient quality.

  • Create and maintain departments’ standard operating procedures. 

  • Support both part production and manufacturing process development within the team's area of focus and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Help implement, simplify, and automate high-reliability manufacturing processes so that the production teams can operate independently of engineering.

  • Lead internal/external Corrective and Preventative Action Plans and Non-Conforming Material Report processes. 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the production of non-conforming products, troubleshooting, root cause, failure investigations, and corrective actions.

  • Ownership for tasks assigned, for defects (Non-Conformances) found in Mfg. and Test.

  • Understand the requirements and process to effectively transition design changes, new designs, or deviations into production. 

  • Implement, simplify, and automate high-reliability manufacturing processes so that the production teams can operate independently of engineering.

  • Participate in the IDSS Quality Management system while adhering to ISO9001:2015 standard. 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Misys ERP and Arena PDM (or similar) is a plus.  

  • ISO 9001 experience 

  • Designed for Manufacturing (DFM) experience. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years’ experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline  

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 

  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing

  • Knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio

  • Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual. 

  • Ability to lift items to 50 lbs. unassisted. 

  • Must be able to push/pull 200 lbs. 

  • Must be able to move/ manipulate equipment weighing up to 1000 lbs. with the assistance of carts, hoists, davit cranes, pallet jacks, or other devices as defined in the manuals and Technical Advisory documentation. 

  • Job requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility. 

  • Must be able to work safely and follow safety precautions in extreme environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces, etc.) around dangerous industrial equipment. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working with radiation. Dosage monitoring is required.  

  • This job operates in a manufacturing facility where operator safety is a top priority.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:

While supervision is not considered a primary responsibility of this position, there may be instances where supervision of others on a project basis may be required.  

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • This is a benefited full-time position.   

  • On-premise Monday through Friday with some work-from-home exceptions. 

  • Normal manufacturing hours are 8:00 am- 4:30 pm with exceptions. 

TRAVEL:

  • Must be able to maintain a US Passport.

  • Must be willing & able to travel at short notice to customer sites is required.

  • Availability for international travel.

  • Travel within the region daily, domestically, and internationally, 10%. 

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • Must be able to complete DHS Public Trust Background Check.

  • Ability to obtain government clearance
